Mid-weight interior designer

Howark Design is looking for a mid-weight interior designer to join its team in West London.
Howark Design is a small and dynamic design studio, based in Chiswick, West London. We deliver bold, character driven residential projects in the UK and Internationally. We pride ourselves on our attention to detail, authenticity and experience.
Howark Design was named one of Country and Townhouses’s 50 Finest Interior Designers in both 2022 and 2023 and House and Garden magazine’s Top 20 Up and Coming Designers in 2021.
Our ideal candidate is passionate about delivering beautiful projects and is confident, capable and excited by the prospect of developing their skills and becoming an integral part of a young, vibrant design studio.
The ideal candidate must have the following key skills:
- a professional qualification in interior design/interior architecture
- three-plus years post-graduate experience in the residential sector
- excellent CAD drafting abilities, proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Suite
- a high standard of technical ability
- a passion for FF&E with good knowledge of suppliers, product and finishes
- experience in procurement
- experience working on all stages of projects from concept to installation
- impeccable verbal and written communication skills – fluency in spoken and written English
We are looking for someone with the following qualities:

- a ‘people person’ who is an engaging, authentic and hardworking individual and who is equally happy liaising with clients as they are with contractors and suppliers
- someone who is comfortable with problem solving and proactively coming up with solutions
- someone open to feedback, dialogue and growth within an exciting, expanding studio
- an eye for detail in all aspects of their work
- someone open to travel for work
- drivers licence a bonus
Role breakdown:
- support the directors at all stages of the projects
- create technical drawing including spatial planning, furnishing layouts and detailed elevations to design intent level
- work with the directors to create design presentations including, mood boards, drawings and concept imagery
- helping to source new furniture, antiques and art and bring original and fresh thoughts to the studio
- design and develop beautiful bespoke furniture, including case pieces, upholstery, lighting and joinery
- project procurement and organisation including schedules
- attend regular internal and external design team meetings with clients and suppliers
- check information produced by consultants, sub-contractors and suppliers
- assist with project site monitoring, installation and photography
