August is seeking a mid-weight to senior interior designer for its French regions to join its growing team in London.

As part of the design team, the primary remit for this role will be managing the full design process from concept, technical drawing production, FFE selection, on-site coordination and installation for a number of renovation and design projects in our French market with homes primarily around Nice region of the south of France and Chamonix region of the French Alps as well as Paris. With a predicted GDV of £20m plus, you will be responsible for designing and delivering beautiful and functional holiday homes for our homeowners.
Responsibilities include:
- creating functional and aesthetically beautiful August holiday homes from concept to installation
- delivering design packages – from concept through to construction packs (technical drawings and documentation in AutoCAD e.g. floor plans, electrical layouts, elevations, etc.)
- research, specify and source materials, finishes and equipment – with a focus on lead time, durability and budget; seeking to develop new supplier relationships within European and regional markets
- on-site project management and project coordination with the regional project manager
- be the gatekeeper of brand image and experience at a design and implementation level – seeking continual innovation, improvement and evolution
- balance the brand value of uniqueness with the commercial requirement to standardize where appropriate for scaling
- manage the installation process; working with a local team logistics team, handyman and electricians to unpack and install the full FFE package, including snagging and styling, ensuring a productive feedback loop is established allowing mistakes to be learnt from and engendering continual improvement
- supporting the hospitality team with any maintenance weeks and minor works once homes go live
- coordinate the evolution of the regional design direction, suppliers and brands to continuously challenge and elevate the design and homeowner experience
- develop styling and antique sourcing strategy within the local market
About you – we’d love to hear from you if you have:
- bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in architecture, interior design or a related discipline
- at least six years’ experience in interior design
- speak French at a professional level, Spanish or Italian is also beneficial
- experience in multiple phases of development from design/planning to construction project management/administration including managing project budgets
- on-site experience working with contractors and trades and a great understanding of build standards
- excellent spatial, technical and operational understanding and being able to translate this into reality
- passionate about delivering a seamless experience in the homes through design, brand image, furniture and interior styling
- the ability to independently plan and complete projects with minimal supervision
- the successful candidate will be a well-organized individual with excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities
- strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit – an ‘all-hands on deck’ spirit
- process driven – an ability to deliver immediate results, whilst looking to develop systems for future growth
- excellent problem-solving and resourcefulness skills
