Project architect

MacLean Architecture and Design is seeking a project architect to join its team in London.
We offer the opportunity to work flexibly in a design-led practice, developing your career with active involvement in the management of projects, clients, consultants and contractors. This role would suit someone who is looking to grow and develop into a role of significant responsibility in a small studio.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong design portfolio as well as advanced construction and technical knowledge. You will be responsible for the concept design, development and construction of high-end residential projects in London.
We are looking for a self-disciplined architect with at least 5 years’ experience in the UK, able to perform multiple complex tasks and projects efficiently, and thoughtfully manage private clients in a personable and professional manner.
Key responsibilities:
- experience working across all RIBA Stages to successfully manage time and workload to meet agreed project and on-site deadlines
- attend and document site meetings, ensuring compliance with the contract and the highest quality of craftsmanship is achieved
- confidently liaise and coordinate with all consultants and contractors
manage and control client expectations and communications through the journey of their project - a self-starter and able to work independently
Qualifications and skills:
- preference will be given to RIBA Part 3 qualified with a minimum of three years’ post-qualification experience
- experience in the coordination of high-level interiors and finishes
- strong understanding of the building regulations, and understanding of construction techniques
- excellent contract administration skills and confidence with the JCT contract suite
- proficiency in Vectorworks – essential
- comfortable working in a Mac OS environment
- strong visual communication skills (hand sketching, SketchUp etc.)
