Snøhetta is seeking a director of operations to join its team in Oslo, Norway.
Since 1989, Snøhetta has established itself as a world famous practice of urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, interior architecture and branding design. In our offices spanning from Oslo and New York, to Innsbruck, Paris, Stockholm, Adelaide, Hong Kong and San Francisco, the practice currently has 230 employed staff members from 30 different nations, split equally between male and female. Snøhetta practices self-defined transdisciplinary processes where different professionals, from authors to visual artists, from philosophers to sociologists, take each other positions to explore differing perspectives without prejudice points of view. Whatever size, each project is unique, and deserves a unique process. Opinions on history, culture, representation, climate, topography and landscapes, social environment, ethics and functions all represent layers of complexity to be embedded in a final result.
To ensure the success of our international growth, Snøhetta is seeking an exceptional director of operations to our Oslo office who will have operational responsibility for our markets in Europe and Africa. Snøhetta has grown and developed substantially over the past years and is on a continuous journey to professionalize how we run a global company.
The director of operations will lead all non-design processes and make sure we run a well-coordinated and productive business with a people first approach.
The role is newly established and reports to managing director for Nordic Countries, Continental Europe and Africa.
Responsibilities:
- run the day to day business and act as deputy to the managing director
- provide business guidance, leadership and coaching to direct reports
- develop, implement and monitor the overall budget
- responsible for contract management and risk assessment
- ensure that project quality meets the highest standards
- actively follow up strategic initiatives and manage change with cultural sensitivity, flexibility and a positive attitude
Profile:
- You have an MBA/project management/MArch/civil engineering/legal or similar relevant higher education with exceptional results
- you have 10+ solid international leadership experience driving operational excellence within the architectural or construction industry
- you have excellent organisational and leadership abilities and are still curious and eager to learn
- you have in-depth knowledge of diverse business functions (project management, finance, HR, accounting)
- you understand numbers and have the ability to see the whole picture in the complexity of details
- you have outstanding people skills with the ability to coach people to achieve their best
- you are comfortable working in a fast paced, ever changing international environment
- you are fluent in English and Norwegian (verbal, written and reading). Other languages would be a plus
- affinity for cultural and creative business
- knowledge of Snøhetta’s work
