Junior-middleweight product designer/developer

There is an opportunity for a London-based junior-middleweight product designer/developer to join 7TH Design & Invention.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and broad skilled product designer to join our team.

Basic requirements: 

  • minimum two-three years industry experience
  • minimum BA degree in product design, industrial design, engineering design or related subject
  • proof of strong technical knowledge and practical skills
  • engineering or technical background preferred

Technical abilities: 

  • proof of both a strong aesthetic sense and communication skills
  • an instinctive understanding of how things work and how things are made
  • Solidworks parts and assemblies, including modelling in both solids and surfaces
  • Keyshot rendering
  • high quality sketching and visual communication
  • able to quickly progress designs by creating sketch prototypes, mockups and experimental rigs
  • experienced in designing parts to be 3D printed
  • interest and experience in mechatronics / electronic prototyping using raspberry pi/arduino is a bonus
  • excited about hands on development and playing with 3D printers

Qualities we’re looking for: 

  • flexible approach to work and always eager to learn, unprompted
  • mature and businesslike approach to all aspects of the job – we are a small boutique design company and as such the applicant will be expected to interact in a professional and positive way with both clients and expert project collaborators
  • self motivated and able to manage their own workflow. Applicant will be expected to manage their own deadlines and goals within project work and to report back on successes, failures and plans for next steps as part of their weekly workflow
