Part 2 architectural assistant/site coordinator

Facit Homes is seeking a Part 2 architectural assistant/site coordinator to work on site in Oxfordshire, UK.
Facit Homes design and deliver custom homes using digital technology – a hybrid of manufactured timber components and subcontracting. We are different from a traditional contractor in that we have a strong focus on design and technology, and consequently our staff are generally from a design background rather than from the construction industry.
We are looking for an individual to be based on our site at the new custom-build housing development at Graven Hill, Bicester. They will co-ordinate the building of a 246m2 two storey timber framed home for the full seven months build contract. The successful candidate will report directly to our office-based project leader and implement the design, ensuring their instructions are carried though and that the project is built as designed.
Responsibilities include:
- ensure that all workers on site understand their responsibilities and the design intent
- check that work being undertaken is of quality and in accordance with the drawings/design
- continually report back to the office with time and quality progress updates, queries, etc.
- receive and check deliveries against specification
- use the online project programme to understand what work is to be undertaken and when
- ensure the site is tidy and well organised
- deal with queries from subcontractors
- calling subcontractors to ensure they are going to turn up
- ideally own a driving licence and vehicle to get to site and collect small items when required
We are looking for someone from a design background who will act as a representative for the office on site. Being used to working on a computer they will be naturally suited to the constant digital communication with the office using digital tools developed by our studio. You will work in close collaboration with the lead carpenter who will provide you with site-related advice when needed.
This is a hands-off role – you are primarily involved in administrative and management duties. However you will need to be happy to be work in an external site environment, and may be required to lend a hand occasionally.

Salary: £140.00 to £160.00 /day
