Part 1/2 architectural assistant

Baca Architects is seeking a Part 1/2 architectural assistant to join its team in London.

Baca Architects have exciting opportunities for Part 2’s and talented Part 1’s to join their lively London Office. The award winning, design and research-led practice is offering the chance to get involved in their unique and pioneering work in flood resilient and eco-conscious design. This includes design led projects focusing on residential schemes in areas of flood risk, floating leisure schemes, masterplanning for climate change, and involvement in national and international competitions.

Previous Part 1 and 2 Baca employees have had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, all the while learning indispensable flood-resilient planning knowledge. Part 1/2 assistants are closely involved in the design process, have a close mentorship with Baca’s directors and often have opportunities to enrol onto apprenticeships schemes and continue education with support from the practice. If you are interested in potentially enrolling onto a Part 2 or 3 apprenticeship, please mention this in your cover letter!

Ideal candidates will have a strong motivation for design and some previous practice experience post-graduation. Complimentary portfolios should demonstrate 3D modelling and visualisation skills, an ability to work with initiative, and resource to learn and take-on new roles beyond architectural education.

We are looking for talented candidates all-year round however for this round of applications, start date should be ideally by end of July/early August.

  • good hand drawing skills with the ability to work in three dimensions

Professional skills:

  • RIBA accredited qualifications (or internationally recognised equivalent)
  • excellent visualisation skills with V-Ray or other real-time rendering software
  • good proficiency with Adobe Suite for preparing presentation material
  • excellent proficiency in written and spoken English
  • encouraging and aspirational design portfolio
  • good proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD drawings (Vectorworks experience is useful!)

General understanding of the building process, key stages and role of an architect in a UK built environment context.
