London, UK
Senior architect
at Piercy&Company
Piercy&Company is looking for an experienced senior architect to join its growing London studio.
Founded in 2002, Piercy&Company is a London-based, multi-award-winning architecture studio that has carved a reputation for carefully crafted contemporary residential, commercial, civic and cultural projects in sensitive historic environments. One of the leading British practices, the 60-strong studio is led by a team of four directors; Stuart Piercy, Henry Humphreys, Pete Jennings and Matti Lampila.
The studio’s work spans mixed-use, masterplanning, residential, commercial, civic, culture and hospitality sectors. In commercial schemes, it draws on experience of working from both sides of workplace design; designing large, complex and commercially successful Cat A new build and refurbished offices; as well as undertaking fit-out design for global companies.
The studio space is designed to support a shared passion for materials, form, technology and craft. The studio is currently working on projects at all scales, from furniture commissions and private homes to a half-a-million square foot commercial and gallery space in central London. Regardless of scale, all projects have the same level of intimacy, research and consideration.
The studio works with a spirit of pragmatic adventure, combining knowledge of construction and digital fabrication with a belief in the grounding effects and expressiveness of beautiful natural materials.
Named Office Architect of the Year, Piercy&Company also won the AJ Architecture Award for Best Refurbishment and a National RIBA Award in 2018. The studio has also won FX’s ‘UK Project of the Year’ for three years in 2014, 2016 and 2018, the Blueprint Best Non-Public Use Project in 2014, the BD One-Off House Architect of the Year in 2014 and a finalist in the Manser Medal in 2010.
Piercy&Company works with some of the UK’s leading developers, including Argent, Brockton Capital, Berkeley Group, Derwent London, Helical, Landsec, Qatari Diar and Stanhope, alongside private clients, community organisations, corporate occupiers and hoteliers.
The position requires a strong designer who can also successfully coordinate and engage in design team interaction, communicate design ideas to a range of audiences and resolve construction challenges and disputes. The role will involve detailed design and taking a project through to site, so experience in the later RIBA stages is essential.
Applicants will need to demonstrate that they have:
- at least three to five years’ post-Part 3 experience and be ARB registered
- experience in UK procurement and construction
- experience in design team coordination and client liaison
- experience in managing a team of architects
- good experience across all RIBA work stages
- very strong design and detailing skills
- strong presentation skills
- strong technical expertise and knowledge of current construction methods
- proficiency in MicroStation
- BIM (Revit) experience an advantage
Remuneration dependent upon experience.
Piercy&Company is an equal opportunities employer.
