Studio Sutton is seeking an architect to join its London-based practice.

Introduction

The practice continues to grow and develop these principles across all the work it produces and has significant experience in delivering projects within the commercial workspace, hospitality and life-sciences sectors. The studio has earned international acclaim for the solutions they have brought to their completed projects.

The office is looking to add team members who are keen to be involved in the future growth and progress of the studio and contribute to the future vision of the practice. We see this as an interesting opportunity for someone who is ambitious and is seeking a role that they can grow and shape to make their own. The ideal candidate should be technically strong with a keen eye for quality, timeless design principles and possess excellent management skills.

Key responsibilities:

  • lead and manage projects or packages of work from inception to completion, ensuring high standards of design, documentation, and delivery
  • produce accurate and detailed technical drawings and construction documents, ensuring compliance with UK building regulations
  • demonstrate strong proficiency in industry-standard software (notably Revit) and actively seek to implement innovative tools to enhance studio output
  • collaborate effectively with clients, consultants, and stakeholders, fostering positive relationships and managing expectations
  • develop creative and sustainable design solutions, ensuring alignment with project briefs and the practice ethos
  • maintain a strong understanding of local building regulations, legal processes, and industry trends, integrating them into your work as required
  • mentor junior team members, share design expertise and foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth
  • manage workloads, timelines, and budgets effectively, ensuring projects meet the required quality and deadlines

Key requirements:

  • architect (ARB) with three to five years of experience post-Part 3 qualification, with experience in laboratory design considered a bonus
  • two plus years of Revit experience is essential, proficiency with Vectorworks and Enscape is desirable
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite is essential, as well as confidence working in both Apple Mac and Microsoft Windows environments
  • strong knowledge of UK building regulations, construction methods, specifications and technical detailing. Experience and knowledge using NBS Chorus and NBS Source would be an advantage.
  • demonstratable experience in project leadership and management, including clear and demonstrable client and contractor management skills
  • proven ability to develop innovative, high-quality designs and resolve complex technical challenges
  • demonstrated record of project and site-based experience delivering RIBA Workstages four to six
  • excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to present ideas clearly and confidently
  • an ambitious and collaborative mindset, thriving in team environments and contributing to a positive studio culture, keen to learn, with the desire to share knowledge and experience
  • passion for sustainability and integration of environmentally conscious practices in design and construction
