Senior interior designer
at Echo Architecture

Echo Architecture is seeking senior interior designers or interior architects to join its growing team in London.

Salary range: £45,000 – £55,000

We are a busy, creative practice delivering world-class, large-scale commercial projects across retail, residential, hospitality, leisure and workplace sectors – often combining several uses within a single scheme. Our projects are developed from initial concept through to detailed design, working closely with our head office in Riyadh, KSA.

With a 25-year history of delivering successful built projects, Echo Architecture offers a clear opportunity to see your work realised. If you join us, your projects will get built.

The role

We are looking for experienced designers to both contribute to and lead the development of large-scale commercial retail and leisure schemes, while supporting the wider range of project work within the studio. Previous experience on large commercial retail and leisure projects is essential, ideally with exposure to Middle Eastern projects.

Candidates should be comfortable working across all stages of a project, from concept through to detailed design, bringing creativity, strong problem-solving skills, organisation, and diligence to their work. The role involves working closely with the Interior Design Director and acting as a design lead on projects, overseeing day-to-day design development, managing presentations, coordinating project teams and deliverables, and liaising with our Riyadh office.

We are also interested in candidates with experience managing CAD deliverables at schematic and detailed design stages. Depending on skills and experience, this technical leadership may form part of the design lead role or be a separate, dedicated position.

The role is initially offered as a fixed-term contract, with the expectation from Echo Architecture that it will be extended or converted to a permanent position.

Responsibilities:

  • act as day-to-day design and delivery lead on projects, with support and guidance from the senior team
  • develop project concepts independently and collaboratively within the team, with strong opportunities for creative growth
  • take responsibility for the quality, accuracy and coordination of work produced, including self-checking output and proactively identifying issues
  • guide and support members of the project team
  • work effectively in a fast-paced environment, responding quickly to changes in brief or priorities
  • develop coordinated CAD drawing packages, schedules and technical information through to detailed design
  • liaise closely with the wider Riyadh office to support project coordination and delivery
  • note: the technical CAD leadership role may be separate from the creative design lead role, depending on the candidate
  • no business development responsibilities are required due to a stable and expansive project pipeline
  • full-time attendance in the central London office is expected

Key skills and experience:

  • advanced AutoCAD skills, with experience developing, coordinating and delivering CAD packages (may form part of a separate technical role)
  • strong working knowledge of SketchUp and Enscape, or similar 3D and rendering software
  • proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
  • strong design ability, creativity and confident decision-making
  • good knowledge of materials, with enthusiasm for research and awareness of current design trends
  • excellent visual communication skills, including mood boards, imagery and concept presentation (hand sketching desirable but not essential)
  • highly organised, proactive and self-motivated
  • essential experience in large-scale mixed-use retail, leisure and entertainment projects

If this opportunity sounds like it could be right for you please apply with your CV and Portfolio, of which will be reviewed and those shortlisted for interview stage will be contacted directly. Kindly note that applicants should ensure they have full right to work in the UK in order to be considered for this position.
