Galmstrup Architects is seeking an associate architect for cultural heritage to join its team in London.
Galmstrup Architects is a design-led practice specialising in cultural buildings and heritage projects. We work with museums and galleries, visitor and community centres and the transformation of cultural heritage assets.
We are searching for an associate architect with strong technical skills and site experience to oversee multiple smaller projects during detail development, tender and site supervision. Working from our studio at Columbia Road, the associate will work across projects leading and supporting our project architects ensuring quality, compliance and delivery at the later stages of projects. The associate will be part of the leadership team in the office, having input into the development and direction of the practice.
Successful candidates will have strong detailing skills and have worked extensively across RIBA stages 4 to 6 in the UK. They must demonstrate strong communication and collaborative skills, as wells as knowledge of UK compliance and statutory processing. We are searching for someone who is self-motivated, structured and who wants to be part of growing a small practice.
Essential skills:
- candidates must be RIBA Part 3 qualified 12+ years and ARB registered
- strong, coherent design and detailing skills aligned with Galmstrup’s ethos
- must have worked extensively across RIBA stages 4 to 6 in the UK
- technical standards, planning applications and industry regulations knowledge
- internal team management ability
- client liaison and design team management experience
- excellent communication and coordination skills
- project management capability – programmes, resourcing and budgets
- project quality plan and quality control capabilities
- collaborative and social attitude
- ability to multitask and work across several projects concurrently
- interest in heritage and conservation, transformation and environmental design
- fluent spoken and written English
- eligible to work in the UK
