London, UK
Architect/experienced architectural assistant – prime luxury residential
at Gawor
Gawor is seeking an architect/experienced architectural assistant to join its team in London.
We are looking for an experienced architect/architectural assistant to join our boutique architecture and interiors practice, creating exceptional bespoke homes in some of London’s most sought-after locations.
Our projects offer the opportunity to work with extraordinary materials, specialist craftspeople and ambitious designs. From striking natural stone and intricate bespoke joinery to specialist metalwork and finely crafted finishes, we explore how materials can bring character and richness to a home. Every project is individual, with architecture and interiors developed together down to the smallest detail.
We are seeking someone who is excited by this work, enjoys the challenge of making sophisticated designs buildable, and wants to see their ideas and drawings become beautifully finished spaces.
Your role
Working closely with the practice directors, you will play a significant role in developing and delivering prime residential projects in Kensington, Holland Park, Knightsbridge and Chelsea.
You will be involved from design development through to construction and completion, exploring layouts, developing bespoke details, preparing coordinated tender and construction packages, and resolving questions on site. You will work with consultants, contractors, specialist suppliers and makers to carry the design through into the finished home.
This is an opportunity to gain direct experience of exceptional residential projects, contribute to design decisions and develop your technical skills through close involvement in their delivery.
You will work from our Bromley office, with visits and meetings at our central London project sites.
What we are looking for:
- three to six years’ relevant practice experience in high-end residential work
- a strong portfolio demonstrating design quality and technical ability, including bespoke joinery, construction details and completed projects
- a practical understanding of construction, interior architecture and UK Building Regulations
- an enthusiasm for exceptional materials, finishes and craftsmanship, with the ability to detail their use carefully
- confidence coordinating consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers
- strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- close attention to detail and a commitment to delivering work of a high standard
- the right to work in the UK
An architectural degree or equivalent qualification is desirable, although we will also consider applicants who can demonstrate the necessary ability through their experience and portfolio. Experience with listed buildings and substantial refurbishment projects would be welcome.
Discretion is essential. Much of our work is confidential, and you must be comfortable signing and working under non-disclosure agreements.
Software
You should be confident using AutoCAD to produce detailed technical drawing packages, SketchUp for modelling and design development, Photoshop for presentation work, and Excel for schedules and project documentation.
Experience producing CGIs and using AI tools for design and visualisation would be an advantage.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9.00–18.00, including a one-hour lunch break.
Location: Bromley office, with project visits in Kensington, Holland Park, Knightsbridge and Chelsea.
Salary: negotiable based on skill level and experience
