We’re looking for an ambitious and highly creative product designer with accessories experience to join our growing team of design experts in London.

Design Research Studio is the innovations and design group at the heart of Tom Dixon working on the spaces, products and brands of tomorrow. A restless innovator, Tom established Design Research Studio in 2002 to work on innovative projects and products with a wide variety of partners, brands, developers and entrepreneurs. About the role

Design Research Studio is expanding its project portfolio across accessories in the fields of glassware, travel, textiles, tableware, stationary, fragrances and beyond. This role will support the current product design team with projects and briefs within accessories design.

More specifically you will be responsible for:

  • developing accessories pieces from start to finish – concept sketches, renders, models, mock-ups, technical drawings and signing off samples and prototypes
  • integrating into an ambitious and fast-moving unit of product designers, product developers and engineers with a mission to make outstanding and extraordinary products
  • taking responsibility for the critical path, the deadlines and the documentation of all assigned design projects

About you

We’re looking for someone who has a great understanding of the balance between creativity, technical design and management and who is enthusiastic to work in a fast-paced environment across these. We want to bring on someone with a good dose of common sense, who is interested in more enlightened ways of working in a truly modern design studio.

  • an advanced understanding of the contemporary furnishing market, the evolution of trends in product and interior design and latest developments in materials and manufacturing processes
  • knowledgeable and experienced in manufacturing processes and craft techniques, with experience in glass, metal, textile and ceramic
  • a proven ability to drive a product design cycle through to completion
  • a highly organised and excellent time manager with the ability to multitask and juggle complex projects
  • an excellent communicator both internally and externally
  • commercial awareness within the design process and the ability to provide quotations for design proposals
  • ability to ideate quickly through sketches, models, prototypes and renderings
  • expert in Solidworks modelling for manufacture
  • proficient in Rhino and KeyShot
  • proficient in Adobe Creative Ssuite, particularly InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Outlook and, Excel
  • minimum of four years’ experience
