Architect/architectural assistant

Studio Manifest is looking for a part-time architectural assistant or architect to join its studio in central London.

About us

We are a young and ambitious architectural studio that has recently taken on several new projects and are looking to grow our team. Established in response to the housing crisis, Studio Manifest is intended as a vehicle through which to challenge the industry. Alongside conventional architectural practice, we build, research, and teach. Through this multi-faceted approach, we find innovative ways to collaborate and create. Our studio operates out of the RIBA Incubator, an architectural skills hub shared with other like-minded architects and designers.

About you

As well as playing an important role running-projects, the ideal candidate will be someone who can help us manage and grow the practice. The role is part-time (0.5 FTE) and fully flexible, with hours and location of work to be agreed to suit both parties.

The candidate will need to be well-organised, motivated, and open-minded. Qualifications from all RIBA stages (Part 1/2/3) will be considered, but applicants must have a minimum of three years’ professional experience and be confident in managing design development through RIBA Stages 0-4.

A fun, enthusiastic and ambitious personality is important. We are looking for someone who can play a key role in the development of the studio culture as the team grows over the coming years.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • working on projects across all RIBA Stages, including production of planning applications and tender packages
  • assist with research and collaborative schemes
  • use initiative to progress projects independently
  • work successfully in a team
  • provide project management skills to ensure deadlines are met
  • successfully communicate to all project stakeholders both internally and externally

Required skills and experience:

  • a minimum of three years’ post-Part 1 qualification experience within the UK
  • excellent Revit skills are essential for this position
  • excellent English, both written and verbal
  • good understanding of UK planning legislation and building regulations
  • experience in working on residential developments would be beneficial
  • good understanding of current construction methods and detailing
  • good knowledge of AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign and Microsoft Office

Benefits:

  • salary: based on a full-time salary of £22,000-£26,000 per annum pro-rata depending on experience. Non-contract hours considered
  • working hours: part-time: 0.5 full-time equivalent (FTE) with flexible working hours available (hours to be worked as necessary to carry out the duties of the post, based on notional full time 40 hours per week)
  • holiday: 28 days pro-rata (inclusive of bank holidays) plus one extra day each year of service, up to five days
