Experienced architect and architectural technologist
at Residential Design Solutions
Residential Design Solutions is looking for an experienced architect and architectural technologist to join its team in London.
We are a young and enthusiastic team, who are looking to grow and take on larger projects.
The successful candidate will work as part of a small architectural team delivering construction information, coordinating the design process, and liaising with clients and contractors. Applicants must have a positive attitude with proven proficiency in working collaboratively within a team, a strong work ethic, a solid ability to work accurately, whilst taking responsibility for all aspects of their work.
Our ideal candidate will be a strong independent thinker, with excellent technical knowledge and enjoy working as part of a small team across a range of sectors.
RDS works across all RIBA work stages including:
- concept design
- detail design
- planning applications
- construction drawings
- site visits and inspections
Key areas of responsibility:
- guide and detail tender/construction packages at stages 3,4 and 5
- strong knowledge and experience on working on all RIBA Stages 0-7
- ability to understand how the design aspects of a construction project influence and relate to performance and functional issues so that the practical questions can be addressed at the outset
- building regulation details, code requirements and other regulatory applications and procedures
- preparation of NBS specifications
- working with different professionals. Architects, BIM coordinators and interface with external contractors as well as consultants
Essential requirements:
- proficiency working on residential projects, including the production of drawings and schedules for regulatory approvals, tender package, and construction
- exceptional knowledge of planning legislation and statutory building regulations
- advanced knowledge in technical design and construction methods
- experienced in client liaison and coordination with consultants
- strong communication skills
- minimum three years’ post-graduate experience
- strong technical skills/detailing experience
- ARB/RIBA registered
- ability to complete tasks with accuracy and a high attention to detail
- a sound knowledge of planning legislation and statutory building regulations
- confident and ambitious
- a hands-on approach and ability to use initiative
- attending on-site meetings and dealing with queries as required
- ability to work to a varying workload and tight deadlines
- working knowledge of Revit is preferable
- advanced knowledge of AutoCAD
- excellent design skills
- great project management skills – ability to manage different projects
This is a full-time position. All candidates should be eligible to work in the UK.
