Aatelier Culbert architects based in Sion, Switzerland, whose main business is: sustainable design of new buildings from private to commercial use or fit-out; hospitality and high-rise design; heritage renovation and transformation – from landmarked buildings to farmsteads; master plans in Switzerland or abroad; museums and cultural buildings across the globe; exhibition and product design; lighting and landscape design; material and resilient design innovation; collaboration with architecture firms from around the world for joint-ventures or competitions. Local and International competitions; Art residency management. Flagship boutique and furniture design. Infrastructure design (bridges).

We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a bilingual architect with Swiss and international experience.
The main duties and responsibilities will include:
- develop outreach plan for new local or international work – this is your number one scope to expand firm’s visibility and project scales
- plan and implement projects within client scope, budgets and applicable regulations in an efficient manner interfacing with potential stakeholders and Atelier Culbert founder
- issuing of specifications and bills of quantity for smaller scale projects or overseeing consultants on these scopes
- help define project scope, goals – sustainable and efficient in-house production – as well as deliverables
- define tasks and required resources – team and consultants – with a focus on disruptive strategies and innovation in means and methods
- allocate project resources
- create schedule(s) and project timelines
- supervise project works in-house and with consultants
- track deliverables
- support and direct Atelier Culbert and consultant team
- liaising with other consultant employees, consultants and other stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of projects
- monitor and report on project progress during design with founder and team in an efficient way
- present to stakeholders’ reports on progress as well as problems and solutions
- overseeing all aspects of ‘pre-planning submissions’ based on Swiss practice by Canton
- attending to commissioning runs or certification activities and assuring compliance with Swiss regulations on sustainable design and building codes (Minergie, Eco-Bau, Bream)
The ideal candidate will:
- have at least eight years’ experience in the building services industry, notably in Europe and Switzerland
- possess excellent organisational, leadership and communication skills
- have a good knowledge of ACAD in a review role
- be conversant in the use of MS Office applications
- have a great graphic sense to produce visual portfolios or RFQ material
- be a problem solver and proactive in fulfilling his/her duties
- can work on his/her own initiative and independently
- have native or excellent (both written and verbal) communication skills in French and English
- have a strong commitment to quality, client satisfaction and follow through
- be an inspiration and fully enjoy the challenges of our practice as it develops
- a valid Swiss work permit
- able to work flexible hours and travel (30% of work is aimed to be local; international 60%)

Background on Atelier Culbert
The founder established his firm in 2000 in NYC, Paris in 2006 and Sion in 2017. He has worked with eight Priztker architects on four continents continents and lived/worked 30 years abroad, from Japan, USA, France to Switzerland. He was awarded Best Building of the Year, 2013 for co-authoring the Louvre-Lens.
He was an associate of Jean Nouvel’s during the early years of his practice, associate-partner for I.M. Pei on three independent projects, and senior museum architect for Herzog & de Meuron among others. He joint-ventured with SANAA on two museum projects, and has collaborated with 10 leading engineers and artists on international invited museum competitions. In addition to architecture, he has designed bridges, landscapes, lighting, exhibitions and furniture. Culbert is an UNESCO heritage expert and UNDP professional. He is co-director of an art residency in Corsica and in the Valais that he helped found.
