Decoration assistant

Alidad is seeking a decoration assistant to join its team in London.
Summary of position
Alidad is looking for a decoration assistant to join our small but busy studio on a full-time/permanent basis. The studio is located at Chelsea Harbour, the heart of the interior design industry in the UK. This person will primarily assist and support the decoration team in their day-to-day tasks involved in creating, developing and delivering bespoke interior schemes across multiple projects. The ideal person would be familiar with working in the interiors industry, either at another studio, has experience working for a supplier or has experience in architectural design but is now looking to break away into interiors. They need to be able to keep pace with rapidly changing designs and schemes and have the ability to rise to the occasion when challenged and busy.
Experience with AutoCAD/Sketch Up/InDesign would be beneficial as there will be opportunities with assisting the design team. Experience with EstiPC/EstiMac and Photoshop is also preferable.
Role specifics include but are not limited to:
- liaising with suppliers as required including requesting/collecting/returning samples, sourcing fabrics and trimmings, requesting reserves, prices and any other information, sometimes at very short notice
- joining client meetings to take minutes and pay close attention to essential information
- helping to maintain and update a full range of FF&E schedules associated with projects
- helping create client meeting presentations
- assisting in sourcing antiques and corresponding with antique dealers respectively
- ordering project elements and monitoring productions and deliveries
- general up-keep of the office and meeting room including tidying of fabric schemes and maintaining fabric books, shelves and inventory
- assisting the design team with architectural design and visualisation as needed (if applicable)
Role requirements:
- exhibit natural creative flair and a hands-on work ethic with a good eye for colour and pattern and attention to fine details
- demonstrate a strong sense of initiative but also be capable of working within a team dynamic and is prepared to react quickly to the teams’ needs
- able to prioritise and to work to deadlines
- display excellent interpersonal skills, particularly when building relationships with suppliers, contractors and clients
- be comfortable picking up the phone and talking to clients/suppliers
- understand the importance of discretion
- have a highly professional manner coupled with a friendly, helpful attitude and sunny disposition
- apply logic and rational thinking to solving design problems
- have a strong all-around IT skill set, with a particular emphasis on the use of Photoshop, Office Suite, Google Docs and EstiPC. AutoCAD, SketchUp, InDesign also beneficial
Hours
9am-6pm Mon-Fri
