Woldon Architects (formerly Gluckman Smith) is seeking a talented architect to join its London office. The role involves working on a variety of workspace, mixed-use and one-off residential projects from inception to completion. Experience should include new build and refurbishment projects in the UK through all RIBA stages.
Founded as Gluckman Smith in 2010, Woldon Architects is an an award-winning contemporary design practice committed to improving the world around us with imagination and expertise. As the practice enters its second decade the practice team, now numbering 20, offers a renewed sense of purpose and dynamism at an exciting point of change. Led by directors Robert, Tom and Phil, the professionalism and passion of the team heralds an ever-growing scope of project and depth of experience.
Our work includes residential, workspace and hospitality projects in both urban and rural locations, serving a wide variety of businesses, estates and private clients. The practice has offices in London and the Cotswolds.

Experience and role
You will have at least four years qualified UK experience, including new build and refurbishment projects with a strong design sensibility and an eye for detail. You should have a good knowledge of construction methods, detailing and current legislation. An appreciation of conservation issues is essential, along with an enthusiasm for contemporary adaptation and re-use of historic buildings and landscapes.
The role will involve providing a lead on projects through all RIBA work stages. You will report to the directors but also be able to work independently, within a dynamic team.
You should have excellent skills of communication and ability to coordinate. You should be confident working directly with clients, consultants, statutory authorities and contractors. Proficiency in CAD drawing and 3D visualisation is required and the ability to sketch by hand is desirable. A firm commitment both to innovative design and professional rigour will need to be demonstrated.

- good understanding of building regulations planning system
- an eye for interior architecture and design
- ability to work as a team and collaborate with colleagues and other consultants
- an ability to work to deadlines
- excellent written and spoken English language skills
