Maddux Creative is seeking a middleweight interior designer to join its team in London.
Founded in 2011 by Scott Maddux and Jo leGleud, Maddux has offices in London, New York and Los Angeles. Maddux specialise in designing high-end residential projects, with a passion for interesting and out of the ordinary design. Our curated spaces are inspired and informed by our never ending obsessions with art, travel, architecture, fashion, history and craft.
Maddux Creative projects have been featured by many of world’s most respected interior design publications. We are a House & Garden Top 100 interiors and product design house.
Role
We are looking for a strong all-round designer to join our creative team in a fast-paced small studio. You must be comfortable working autonomously, have exceptional attention to detail and communication as we are currently flexible working with one to two days a week in the office.
We are looking for a highly creative and detail-oriented middleweight interior designer to work closely with our senior project lead and directors. Proven experience of creating dynamic and creative projects is a must. You will be confident to run small sized residential projects with support from the senior team & assist seniors on any medium to large scale projects.
Responsibilities:
- full time role working with senior team members and independently to assist in projects from concept to completion
- a proven working knowledge of the process from start to finish, awareness of the overall programme and anticipation of what to work on or develop next
- execution of small to medium sized projects with guidance from senior team members from start to finish
- ability to work accurately to a written or verbal brief and managing your own time
- taking a lead role in the concept and design development of the project you are running or helping to manage
- producing detailed plans, elevations and details. The ability to mark up and understand spacial quality and a client’s needs
- assisting in the preparation of technical drawings and information for tender and construction
- leading or managing junior members to create material boards for client presentation at key design stages
- liaising with suppliers and clients to develop specifications and finishes
- selecting and source FF&E or managing junior members to produce sketches and mood boards
- procuring FF&E and using Est iMac to create budget
- liaising with project contractors and managing on site snagging
- developing good presentation skills, representing Maddux to clients and suppliers.
Skills:
- you must have a in BA interior design/architectural or similar, with two to three years’ post-graduate experience
- proficient in AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, SketchUp, Excel, Estimac.
- experience in delivering small to large scale projects from concept to completion
- experience in dealing with clients, contractors, and other suppliers in a highly professional manner
- ability to create and develop conceptual designs and the ability to explain these to others
- ability to advise clients on all technical aspects of a design project
- proven working knowledge of construction and refit project
- proven skill in creating and developing tender and construction pack
- experience in successful FF&E sourcing & procurement (materials, finishes, detailing and scheduling)
- self-motivated, a good team member who can be relied upon to work quickly and efficiently in an organised manner
- ability to successfully manage and delegate to junior members of the team with clear deliverables and constructive feedback
- self-confident, receptive to constructive feedback and able to cope with criticism of your work
- organised and able to manage your time effectively
- excellent communication skills including verbal, written and visual
- exceptional attention to detail
- finally a passion for interesting and out of the ordinary design is imperative. Maddux Creative is a highly imaginative studio always looking at projects with a fresh approach
Salary expectations: £28,000 to £30,000 per annum
