Shopify is seeking a design manager for real estate development to join its team in the EMEA region.
About the role
As a company we have made a bold decision in support of our infinite game: Shopify has declared office centricity over. We believe that heads-down and focused work is best done as individuals, remotely – and so we will no longer support individual desking in our physical spaces. We also believe collaboration, creativity, and deep relationship building is best done in intentional, synchronous, in-person moments. What you’ll be doing:
- supporting the design process for new Shopify spaces across the globe (travel may be required)
- working with external architects, designers, and engineers to ensure the interior design of our spaces meets our standards and requirements
- collaborating with internal teams on Shopify requirements
- leading multiple complex projects with interdisciplinary teams
- creating interior design content
- taking responsibility for the timely delivery of decisions and drawings for construction execution
- thorough technical review and coordination of all drawings submitted by consultants
- gathering consensus among stakeholders with differing views
To be successful in this role you’ll have:
- senior level experience in a prime consultant role leading and managing creative teams and complex interdisciplinary projects
- five plus years’ experience designing hospitality, retail, or similar experiential environments
- multidisciplinary experience working with mechanical, electrical, structural, communications, AV, and IT consultants
- a passion for promoting design excellence
- deep care about how culture and productivity intersect
- have proficiency with current design tools (including AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Cloud, Revit, and Plangrid)
- the drive to thrive on change and be comfortable with doing things unconventionally
- be extremely organized with great prioritization skills
- ARIDO, NCIDQ, AIA, OAA, RIBA, or equivalent accreditation to your local geography
- amazing communication skills (visual, written, and verbal)
