Being a third-generation antique dealer, Matthew Cox understands what makes a piece of furniture stand the test of time. He works closely with his team to distill this knowledge into every aspect of the design, making, and finishing of their collection. The adaptable tables, seating, storage, and lighting are made in rich, natural materials and are designed to age beautifully over time.
The studio is situated in a 17th-century townhouse in the beautiful Georgian town of Stamford, Lincolnshire. Stamford is regularly named as one of the best places to live in the UK.
Hours: 9-5pm Monday to Friday
Salary: £20-24k + benefits + help with relocation (if required)
The role
We’re looking for a talented design assistant who is fluent in one or more CAD programmes to support the creative director in producing drawings of our own made-to-measure collection, as well as fully bespoke pieces of furniture.
You would work closely with our studio coordinator to ensure all design details are considered before passing the brief on to the workshop.
As well as having an understanding of our aesthetic and being extremely attentive to detail, you are also confident and clear in your communications.
You’re organised and able to keep on top of image libraries and multiple versions of drawings and inspiration images. You may have 3D rendering skills for product development and interior design, as well as graphic design skills for internal and external marketing projects.
For the right candidate, there will be plenty of opportunity to shape the role of design within the studio and the wider company.
Key responsibilities:
- taking ownership of CAD drawings for made-to-measure pieces
- working alongside the creative director on bespoke projects and interior design briefs
- ensuring made-to-measure and bespoke drawings are completed within the set timeframe
- communicating precisely, and recording project information accurately in our filing systems and organisational software, monday.com
- recording and archiving final drawings and finishes
- assisting with the post-production of photography
- compiling visually appealing tear-sheets
- creating content and graphics for our website and social media (including Pinterest and Instagram)
- assisting with mood boards and design schemes
- designing print layouts for internal and external publication
- graphic design – internal and external
- new product development
- understanding our sales and production processes
- liaising with our production team on their technical drawings
- excellent research skills and the ability to compile and present that information
