Furniture design developer

Pinch is seeking a furniture design developer to join its team in London.

We are looking for an extremely capable and enthusiastic individual to join our design team in a developer role. Based at our design studio in Clapham North, this role will work with our roster of mainly UK and a handful of EU workshops, as well as very closely with designer Russell Pinch and team to make sure our furniture is realised to the best standards possible, always with creativity, resource respect and product beauty at the heart of what we do. Our design developers are responsible for developing our new product ideas across cabinetry, upholstery and lighting through to fully commercialised production, as well as bringing sensitivity and creative ideas to how we continually improve our current collection in production.
Our winning candidate will work collaboratively in our business that moves quickly, and has high expectations of our designs, our products, our service, and our own ability to enjoy the process as we go along. We are looking for individuals who are looking to grow professionally within a continuously evolving business and want to work with and make a contribution to our team of great people.
Skills:
- creative, sensitive and practical designer
- a professional degree in furniture design is preferred, but candidates with relevant practical experience will be considered
- proven understanding of manufacturing processes and knowledge of production methods and materials
- fluent in the language of quality making and skilled in interpreting beautiful materiality
- effective communicator
- high standard of written and visual communication
- positive collaborator both internally and with suppliers
- natural responsibility taker
- well organizsed multi-tasker, capable of working to deadlines
- thorough and detail orientated
- commercial thinker
- natural initiative taker
- the ability to produce clear and accurate technical design drawings
- confident in model making and workshop use
- Adobe, CAD, preferably Rhino or Vectorworks fluent
- photographic and graphic skills also an advantage
- a friendly, proactive attitude
