The Tulane University School of Architecture is seeking a full-time tenure-track assistant professor for the new Bachelor of Arts in Design Program in New Orleans, USA.

The successful candidate should have a creative practice and/or research production in one or more allied fields of design (such as graphic, industrial, product, fashion, architectural, etc. design). The faculty member will build upon existing faculty strengths in foundational design pedagogy and extend course offerings in prototyping and integration of emerging technologies.
The successful candidate will teach, mentor, and advise students in the Bachelor of Arts in Design program while advancing their own line of creative work and scholarly research within their area of focus. Research foci that address the greater issues facing design today, including climate change, social justice and community engagement are of particular interest.
Responsibilities
The new assistant professor in design will teach at least 15 credits per year at the undergraduate level. Duties include curriculum development of core design studios and research seminars in the candidate’s area of expertise. The new faculty member should also maintain an active research agenda and creative and/or scholarly production in their specified area. Other duties include student advising, program development, and service to the department and university.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a terminal degree in their field of expertise and a research trajectory evidenced with publications, design/creative practice, exhibitions, and/or design competitions. We are interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the school and university through their teaching, research, and service. A minimum of 3 years of full-time teaching experience is preferred.
