FF&E designer

David Collins Studio is hiring an FF&E designer to join its team in London.
Are you an FF&E designer looking to take your design career to a new challenging and exciting level? We are looking to recruit an exceptional and inspirational candidate with background in the high-end commercial and hospitality sector to join our team.
Reports to
Project FF&E designer or senior FF&E designer – overseen day-to-day by mid-weight FF&E designer.
Day to day responsibilities:
- support designers to prepare, schedule and cost all FF&E specifications
- support designers in the creation of specification sheets and purchase orders
- assist in the generation of control books
- support designers in the sourcing and obtaining of relevant information on materials and products to ensure that items are fit for purpose and meets the budget and lead time as required
- proactively participate in internal team meetings and brainstorms; explore and discuss creative concepts at appropriate stages in the project
- assist other team members in the development and preparation of design schemes
- attend site visits with senior team members, taking notes; assist with any FF&E or styling requirements during the final visits
- attend internal review meetings and assisting with any issues as they arise
- support across the administrative aspects of a project e.g. filing, sourcing suppliers, manage incoming and outgoing drawings, catalogue presentation boards, purchase orders, specification sheets, schedule creation and maintenance
Essential experience, skills and qualifications:
- degree or equivalent in interior design, furniture design or architecture
- proven experience and developed creative ability gained from a related design practice (likely to be gained over two to three years’ – including studio internships)
- effective people management
- ability to interpret briefings correctly
- ability to present effectively
- interpersonal – building strong effective working relationships, internally and externally
- visualisation of other people’s ideas
- sketching and drawing
