David Phillips Group is hiring a senior interior designer to join its team in Manchester, UK.
We are looking for an interior designer with at least four years’ of experience within the industry, who is looking for a dynamic role working on a variety of exciting projects. A individual who can lead on projects, presenting and communicating directly with clients, as well as having the confidence to coordinate with other specialist consultants, with a strong background in the industry.
David Phillips Group, our brands and services cover interior design, FF&E procurement, furniture packages and rental for private individuals as well as large scale developers.
The chosen candidate will be responsible for managing their own projects; both designing and project managing schemes from inception through to installation.
The role sits within our residential team but requires a designer that can work on a variety of projects including amenity areas for residential and student, retirement living and office environments.
You should be proficient in space planning using AutoCAD, produce detailed design proposals in InDesign, 3D modelling in SketchUp and editing in imagery in Photoshop. Understanding of V-Ray would also be advantageous.
A passion for interiors and furniture is essential, whilst supporting and mentoring junior colleagues is a key element to this role and future progression.
Duties and detail:
- managing projects from conception to completion; within a structured projects team
- to lead on significant projects, with delegated support from the team if required
- project time management, including weekly reporting, ensuring effective productivity and workload are maintained
- safeguard design output through review of work to maintain internal design standards and brief requirements have been met
- commercial awareness and ability to work to project margins
- providing mentor to support junior designers
- to deal with live issues and to use experience to problem solve with creative solutions
- produce detailed design concepts, proposals, mood boards and 2D/3D floor plans and visuals
- to champion 3D visuals for all large scale tenders, and where required
- attend site visits, review layout drawings and update
- day-to-day design administration and communication internally and externally
- style and dress projects to an excellent standard
Requirements:
- degree or equivalent in interior design
- personable, with a passion for interiors
- to be proficient at AutoCAD, InDesign and Photoshop
- good knowledge with Excel
- confident, with mood boards and digital presentations
- competent administration and organisational skills
- team player attitude with excellent English verbal and written communication skills for both internal and client related matters
- outstanding attention to detail
- a drivers license and access to a car would be beneficial
