BTL Property is seeking an architectural designer to join its team in London.
BTL Property is a leading design and build company operating across southwest London.
Our work is primarily residential refurbishment including extensions, lofts conversion and basements.
We are seeking to hire a talented architectural designer or an architect that has experience in residential refurbishment projects.
You will be working closely with the head of design, taking full responsibility for designing new extensions to period properties around the southwest London area. You will deal with clients directly throughout the briefing process, design and pre-planning stages, liaising with internal, and external professionals. Your role will be preparing drawings, plans and documents for feasibility studies, pre/planning applications and obtain relevant permission.
Required skills and attributes:
- have relevant experience within residential design, building regulations and planning
- commercially savvy with understanding of budgets and construction costs
- positive and approachable communicator, who can lead any client comfortably through the design process and respond effectively to the clients’ briefs
- excellent prioritisation and multi-tasking skills
- speak and write fluent English
- work well within a team
- minimum five years’ AutoCAD experience
- valid UK driving license
Main responsibilities:
- liaison with customers, party wall surveyors, structural engineers on the technical aspects of the project
- prepare, develop and edit, drawings, models, images and other documents relating to the design and planning applications
- contribute, or otherwise assist, as required by line manager
- undertake surveys and preparing records of existing buildings and sites
- carry out administrative tasks relevant to the production of architectural documents
- carry out allocated tasks competently and professionally within determined timescales, financial budgets and fee/cost targets
- filling and submitting planning applications
- specifying requirements for building control and construction drawings
- construction detailed drawings – preparing tender packages
