Mid-weight interior designer
at Foster Lomas
Foster Lomas Architects is seeking a mid-weight interior designer to join its team in London.
We are recruiting for a mid-weight interior designer. You will be reporting to our senior interior designer, working across multiple projects. The successful applicant will have the chance to assist with developing projects from concept to completion. The post holder will enjoy significant project ownership, and will be afforded a high level of responsibility within the scope of these projects.
We are looking for the ultimate all-rounder. Someone who has strong product knowledge and furniture drawing skills is essential. You will have particularly strong organisational and FF&E skills and you will be fluent in Office and Adobe Suites, as well as AutoCAD packages.
To be considered for this role you must have at least four years’ experience post qualification, be able to demonstrate your technical ability, have vast FF&E experience and have a proven track record of working on high-end projects.
Key responsibilities:
- assisting the interiors team on all aspects of our projects
- working closely with the team, and with our clients through all project stages
- keeping on top of regular communication with suppliers and contractors
- sourcing and procuring all FF&E items and accessories
- developing design drawings (bespoke furniture, lighting, joinery, layouts) and schedules for the review by the senior designer/lead designer
- helping to prepare preliminary FF&E budgets for the review of the senior designer/lead designer
- creating concepts, and developing designs
- producing drawings for bespoke elements
- drawing and rendering plans, elevations, and other details
Skills necessary:
- a BA in interior design, interior architecture or related field
- a minimum of four years’ professional experience, with a relevant portfolio of work
- the ability to work in a team, but with a degree of autonomy.
- having a strong FF&E flair
- ability to create and edit technical drawings using AutoCAD
- skilled with rendering and bringing plans, elevations, and sections to life
- designing room layouts and space planning
- attention to fine detail
- excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills, particularly when building relationships with contractors and suppliers
- posses a strong all-round IT skillset, with experience using:
- AutoCAD
- SketchUp
- Adobe Suite
- Microsoft Office
