About Trigger

Trigger creates design and strategy for curated and branded spaces to evoke inspiring experiences.

Trigger is a small highly creative business undertaking projects in museum, heritage, interpretation, placemaking and brand design spaces. We strategise, design and implement: interpretive exhibition projects, revitalisation of heritage spaces, signage and landscape interpretation projects and wayfinding. Our work involves architectural design, branding, graphic design, digital design, film and AV design, stakeholder and community consultation. We work with specialist companies (eg architecture, multi-media, lighting, engineering, curatorial, heritage consultancies) to bring projects to life. We have multiple projects running at any one time, all at different stages.

Located in Surry Hills, Sydney, NSW.

Job description

We require:

  • architectural 3D Designer, with experience in the cultural design space – eg museums, galleries, other visitor experience – and working on spatial projects
  • we are looking to hire either a mid-weight or senior designer depending on the candidate
  • the work will involve developing design concepts for: interpretive exhibition, wayfinding, digital and branding projects
  • generating sketches and computer-generated visualisations to communicate ideas to a wide range of stakeholders
  • specifying materials
  • collaborating with other specialist companies to integrate Trigger’s design vision for built and natural environments
  • undertaking research and upskilling where required to resolve design issues in order to achieve the best outcome for the project
  • generating detailed construction documentation packages for tender
  • taking ownership of projects from start to finish and having the ability to effectively communicate with clients, suppliers and manufactures
  • working closely with the in-house graphic designer to integrate design
  • must be eligible to working in Australia and possess the required visas
  • must have fluency in written and spoken English

Requirements

The ideal applicant will have the following skills, experience and attitudes:

  • well-rounded skillset with experience in delivering concept design, design development and documentation packages
  • ability to generate multiple, different concepts, under the direction of the director for: interpretive exhibition, interiors, and signage in natural and built landscapes
  • visualisation – ability to hand sketch concepts and develop evocative digital visualisations using 3D software and rendering tools
  • documentation for construction and ability to liaise with fabricators
  • excellent in Vectorworks, AutoCAD, Aconex, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Office Suite. An understanding of other more powerful 3D modelling programs would be a bonus
  • interpersonal – skilled at building rapport, understanding others needs and developing effective working relationships
  • ability to work in this fluid area of design where architectural 3D design integrates with graphics, digital and experiential aspects
  • resilient – able to persist and deliver when faced with challenges and bounces back quickly from setbacks
  • affable, friendly, cheerful. Your social skills mean you can bring people with you
  • must be proactive, efficient, a doer, flexible, happy to help, work well under pressure, highly confidential, a can do attitude – no job too little or too big, be able to work within a small team
  • ability to work under the direction of the creative director without direct supervision and as part of a team
  • requires exceptional organizational, communication, problem-solving skills, verbal, presentation, written communication, skills and attention to detail
  • able to work in a Mac-based environment, but also understand PC environments of our clients and sub consultants
  • a flexible attitude to working hours
