Senior designer
at RESI

Resi is currently hiring a senior designer to join one of its in-house architecture studios in London.

Resi are a 140 strong high-growth architectural tech business based in International House right at the heart of Brixton, South London, on a mission to change the residential development market for good.

Are you fed up of feeling like you don’t have the right support to take your career to the next level? Or you don’t get to see enough projects and spend more time doing admin than advising clients? Do you agree that technology can be utilised to help you and your clients to achieve the best results for their home? Then this could be the role for you.

At Resi, you will have the opportunity to work differently, take control of and really accelerate your career. You’ll work alongside a variety of home development professionals, from building regulation experts to planning specialists. Since our launch in 2017, we’ve gone on to become one of the largest home development platforms in the UK, improving thousands of homes per year. As part of our team, you’ll have the chance to be exposed and contribute to dozens of interesting residential projects as they go through from a vague idea to a happy home customers can move into. You can be a critical part of helping homeowners have quality improvements, delivered with speed and for less!

Key responsibilities:

  • working closely with clients to understand and create designs that interpret their needs, motivations and budget for their project, whilst increasing the chances of gaining planning approval first time round
  • keeping in close communication and building rapport with clients, advising them at every step of the journey from the beginning through to on-site. This will include all technical aspects around drainage, the party wall act, planning legislation, building regulations, on-site potential queries, tendering process, contracts and programmes
  • ensuring clients are aware of and comfortable with all aspects of what Resi has to offer
  • manage expectations and risks for the client, so there are no surprises!
  • working to deadlines and consistently hitting targets in order to suit the goals of the business, keeping focused on speed, legality and adding value
  • living the Resi values, and holding others accountable to them
  • training and guiding junior members of the team in what excellent design looks like, what planning approach should be taken, etc.
  • collaborating closely with internal teams to ensure a successful project brief – this involves bringing questions, solutions and actively seeking the root causes on issues to push improvements for the customer, the role, the process and the company
  • handling objections in a patient, confident and professional manner

About you

We know that every designer brings something different to the table, but to have the best chance of success in this role, we think you need to have:

  • excellent technical knowledge in private residential architectural design (creative) – especially in home extensions and renovations
  • a clear grasp and in-depth knowledge of the design process from start to completed on-site
  • project running ability, able to manage and oversee multiple projects simultaneously
  • client-oriented, able to build rapport and always putting them first
  • able to confidently lead design meetings
  • the ability to thrive in a high performing and high pressure environment
  • a positive attitude and mindset
  • demonstrable experience of high performance
  • a high level of maturity
  • a real willingness to learn, adapt and provide solutions

You might be even more of a technical fit if you have:

  • panning, project budgeting and building regulations experience
  • people management experience – specifically of junior designers
  • Revit proficiency
