Ateliers London is a leading British designer and manufacturer, specialising in luxury upholstery and bespoke furniture for some of the world’s leading interior design professionals, spanning high end residential, hospitality and International luxury sectors.
Based in London, our offices, showrooms and production facilities are home to a team of over 40 of skilled craftsmen and technical designers, working in a variety of luxurious bespoke materials. Combining traditional craftsmanship, modern techniques and an enviable knowledge of furniture, we deliver the finest in custom made furniture.
The role
As part of our growth, we are looking for an experienced senior CAD designer, with a background in luxury upholstered furniture and high-end cabinetry, to join our dynamic team.
Working on an exciting mix of bespoke furniture projects, you will take a lead position on both technical and creative designs. The role will involve Interpreting concept sketches, inspirational images and technical designs through to creating manufacturing and production drawings for the workshop teams.
You must have over four years’ experience in a high-end environment, designing upholstered furniture or bespoke cabinetry from concept through to finished production, with experience managing other team members. Reports to: commercial director
Key responsibilities and duties:
- design and develop initial customer line drawings of bespoke upholstered furniture and hard case products using Solidworks for approval
- create full working production drawing packs and templates, clearly noting all details for all departments involved in the manufacturing cycle
- produce and manage efficient, costs effective manufacturing specification
- liaise with sales and production providing creative and technical advice where necessary
- capable of managing your own workloads with a hands-on approach to all aspects of the role
- implementation of good housekeeping
- some site surveys may be required
Skills and experience:
- hold a degree or equivalent in furniture technical design
- highly experienced in Solidworks, AutoCAD, Adobe illustrator and Photoshop
- experienced in CGI beneficial but not essential
- confident and experienced in producing clear professional manufacturing drawings
- sound knowledge of upholstered furniture and hard case manufacturing is required
- demonstrate detailed knowledge and experience of bespoke upholstery and luxury furniture production
- good problem solving skills with a keen eye for detail
- excellent communicator, with a high level of numeracy and literacy in English
- excellent time keeping and ability to meet deadlines
- ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously, both individually and as part of a team
