Interior designer
at Space A

Space A is hiring an interior designer to join its team in London.

Space A are looking for an exceptional interior designer with broad creative and technical expertise to help design and deliver beautiful home refurbishment projects.

We are looking for:

  • a degree interior design or interior architecture – or related degree with proven work experience in the field
  • excellent knowledge and ability in executing interior design projects in a residential setting, with at least four years’ of practical experience
  • competent at using SketchUp to design, present ideas and export design information – ability to create quick but beautiful 3D visualisations a bonus
  • ability to put together beautiful and harmonious mood boards
  • experience in creating drawing packages for concept design, detail design and construction information sets
  • substantial material knowledge – both in breath of category (including sustainability criteria) and in their suitable application and cost. A good knowledge of relevant supplier lists and established contacts a bonus
  • competent, organised and creative in managing the FF&E selection process – from concept design, to the ordering stages through the company accounts
  • excellent and personable client communication skills – empathic and sensitive to personal needs and requirements.
  • someone with an understanding of budget in the design process and experience of delivering beautiful schemes to a budget
  • strong skills in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Suite (InDesign, photoshop and illustrator) and Excel
  • fluent in English – spoken and written

  • naturally organised and bright – able to self-manage with initiative in remote working situations whilst collaborating with the wider team
  • passionate about the design world and home space – a lover of beautiful interior spaces and aware of the latest trends and an appreciation of lasting crafts in interiors

Ideal skills and software:

  • accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawing –SketchUp essential and AutoCAD/Vectorworks
  • Adobe Creative Suite – ability to use indesign, photoshop and illustrator
  • Microsoft excel – efficient spreadsheet handling for scope of works and schedule work

We can offer you:

  • a competitive salary based on experience
  • flexible working hours with remote working possible (initially we want to work together in person in central London to get to know each other)
  • part time and full-time role considered – initially a fixed term maternity cover contract of 8 months although we hope to extend this if all goes well

We combine interior design and architectural rigour with psychological, neurological and historical research to understand how space affects the thoughts, feelings, rituals and routines of our clients – using our design skills to improve their everyday life.

Space A believes that the design of home is an important contributor to mental and physical wellbeing. A carefully formulated home; the right layout, light, sound, furnishings and amenities will lead to happy and fulfilled residents.
