Interior design assistant

ME Developments is looking for an interior design assistant to join its team in Surrey, UK.
The ME Holdings group includes ME Developments – one of the home counties’ leading property developers of luxury homes, ME Estate Agents – an award-winning estate agent with offices across Surrey and Hampshire, and our leisure division which includes Yiayias Kitchen – an award-winning Greek/Cypriot restaurant and takeaway.
Job purpose
Assisting in the production of interior design schemes internally encompassing base build elements and FF&E while working within required budget and time scales for ME Developments.
Duties and responsibilities
Key responsibilities:
- assist the design process from concept through to completion
- produce sample/mood boards for material selection and presentation, log and record information for ordering process
- assist in producing communal area/apartment/house interior schemes to budget
- schedule all finishes, fittings and FF&E for each development as necessary
- schedule all base build materials and specifications for each development as necessary
- capture and record all value engineering specifications for each development as necessary
- FF&E layouts and budget allocation as necessary
- assisting the project teams with key interior design drawings to coordinate with design detailing
- set up and maintain samples and furniture library while sourcing new suppliers and products
- liaise and report into interior design manager daily to ensure project drivers are being achieved
- assist the sales and marketing department with brochure production when necessary.
Site layout/initial feasibility
To assist and carry out the provision of:
- interior design specifications
- initial proposals of finishes for agreement prior to further detailed development at a working drawings stage
- preparation of finishes/mood boards including sample selection and ordering
- assist with furniture layouts and spatial planning
- lighting designs and layouts
- consider junctions of different material, sequencing how different looks for different rooms will merge
- identify any long lead-in items early on and schedule accordingly into the ordering process
Drawing and detailed design information
To liaise with the interior design manager and carry out the following:
- produce interior design concept proposals, including material selections
- provide information to produce detailed drawings and specifications to support the interior. design concept, including layouts, RCPs, kitchens, bathrooms and joinery details
Schedules and specifications
To liaise with the interior design manager and carry out the following:
- full finish schedules with supply costs
- work with contractor / project teams on kitchen layouts
- work with project team on bathroom layouts and detailing
- procurement
To assist and carry out the following:
- ensure the commercial team have all the relevant information to order flooring, ironmongery, vanity tops etc.
- assist with ensuring all layout and detail information has been signed off and approved prior to placing orders
General
To assist and carry out the following:
- manage and coordinate all shows, events and external seminars and lectures
- keep the interior library up to date with the latest samples and materials
Criteria to fulfil role
Education qualifications
Must have completed a relevant degree qualification or have completed a relevant course.
Experience
Ideally has previous experience within the interior design industry – property developer experience is a bonus
Skills:
- CAD experience (AutoCAD)
- Photoshop experience
- Excel
- Microsoft office
- good presentation skills
