London, UK
Studio and events manager
at The Modern House

The Modern House is looking for a studio and events manager to join its office in London.

To coincide with our recent move to exciting new headquarters – a converted 1930s church hall close to Borough Market and the South Bank  – we’re looking for a dynamic individual to oversee the smooth running of the studio and help develop an engaging cultural programme.

In keeping with The Modern House’s reputation as the most forward-thinking and design-literate estate agency in the UK, our aim is to ensure that staff and visitors alike are given the best possible experience.

Our new space has been designed in collaboration with TDO Architecture, with double-height ceilings, bespoke furniture by Max Lamb and Faye Toogood, and artworks by previous clients including Michael Craig Martin and Darren Almond. It allows us to engage with our community in numerous ways, including talks, supper clubs and screenings.

If you’re galvanised by the prospect of making our office the best possible environment to work in, and of developing an inspiring public-facing events programme, we would love to hear from you.

This is a role with plenty of variety, and will suit someone who is comfortable with responsibility while also being unafraid to get their hands dirty.

Key objectives for the role:

  • cultivating the happiness and healthiness of our workforce with a well-run, well-equipped and culturally relevant office
  • leveraging our studio as a key brand asset, through events, brand collaborations and optimising the visitor experience
  • creating cost efficiencies by building relationships with service providers and developing sponsorship opportunities for events
  • monetising the studio by setting up location hire with third parties

Responsibilities will include:

  • overseeing health and safety, fire regulations, cleaning, insurance, security and maintenance
  • overseeing the IT and AV systems
  • maintaining studio supplies
  • welcoming visitors and managing the meetings schedule
  • setting up location hire with third parties
  • helping to implement events and brand collaborations, including furniture and installation, invitations and guest-lists, food and drink, and AV
  • setting up internal events such as yoga classes, film screenings and team lunches
  • innovating new ideas aimed at optimising employee engagement
  • building relationships with suppliers and sponsors

The successful candidate will be:

  • rigorously organised in everything they do
  • a good communicator, and adept at organising others
  • comfortable carrying out both low-level and high-level tasks
  • excited about the idea of engaging with our community
  • well-versed in architecture, design and interiors, with a sound aesthetic judgement
  • an intelligent, articulate and well-presented representative of The Modern House brand
