Sustainability coordinator
at RSHP
RSHP has a vacancy for a sustainability coordinator to join its team in London.
RSHP is an international architectural practice who has designed some of world’s most iconic buildings. Our portfolio of projects ranges from the Bordeaux Law Courts, a new distillery and visitor centre for The Macallan in Speyside, to The Leadenhall Building which is home to the practice’s studio. Currently, we are working on a range of high-profile projects, including the expansion of the British Library; the Montparnasse masterplan in Paris; a new civic campus for Hammersmith and Fulham Council, as well as innovative low carbon housing using modern methods of construction in the UK.
The culture in the practice is one of sharing knowledge and coming together for discussion and teamwork. We have over 180 exceptional people from all over the world in our offices in London, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Paris who are working on projects in over 15 countries. RSHP’s founding constitution was at the forefront of environmentalism. Today, we continually aim to do better and have set ourselves ambitious goals to embed sustainability in everything we do. To help drive our aims forward we have an opening for a sustainability coordinator who is passionate about environmental design to join our London team.
An interest in net zero carbon design with a good understanding of embodied carbon calculation and whole life carbon analysis is required to help us meet emerging, tightening regulations and client requirements as well as our commitment to the principles of the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge.
The sustainability coordinator will work directly with the office sustainability lead and other departments across the office to promote and embed our objectives across all aspects of the practice.
Requirements:
- educated to degree/ higher degree level in architecture/sustainability/environmental studies related to the building industry
- at least three years professional experience of working in an autonomous sustainability role within a design practice
- expertise in model- based calculations of embodied carbon and life cycle assessments including circularity; experience in OneClick LCA an advantage
- understanding of Revit and Rhino workflows
- knowledge of UK and international regulatory frameworks, industry guidance and standards
Knowledge of BREEAM, LEED, WELL and NABERS an advantage.

- application of critical thinking towards design solutions and analysis of data
- attention to detail and understanding the importance of clarity in technical information
- an understanding of RIBA work stages and design input at each stage
- ability to research, maintain and update technical skills
Key tasks include:
- dissemination of knowledge throughout the practice through graphic, written and verbal communication
- keeping up to date with industry research, legislation, tools, processes
- attending sustainability related seminars, workshops etc on behalf of RSHP
- research on environmental and sustainability issues, concerns, and stakeholder interests
- actively collaborate with multiple project teams
- upfront and whole life carbon measurements of projects
- responsibility for in house databases and standardised documents
- contribution to internal training efforts
