The Romo Group is looking for a textile design intern to join its Zinc Textile team in London.

Full time, six-month placement with the possibility of extending, based in Chelsea Wharf, London SW10.

Are you a textile design graduate or someone with interior textile design experience with a passion for contemporary design, looking for an opportunity to work for a market leading interior textile brand.

An exciting opportunity for a six-month paid internship with the design house Zinc Textile, part of The Romo Group, is currently open. As Zinc Textile continues to grow into an influential brand by pushing the boundaries of contemporary textile design, we are seeking a passionate and organised graduate or person with relevant industry experience to join our busy and fast moving studio on a full-time six month fixed-term contract. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and busy design studio working alongside a team of designers on a variety of tasks.

Zinc Textile is a young and dynamic brand with its own in-house studio developing a mixture of unique, versatile, distinctive, and playful textiles. The successful applicant will work alongside the head of brand and wider design team; the main responsibility will be assisting the design team in ensuring the smooth operation of the studio. There will also be opportunities to assist in creative processes where possible including design work, photo shoots and event/exhibition planning and visiting.

To be successful in this role, Zinc Textile are seeking proactive candidates who are highly creative and educated to a degree level in textile design and/or relevant industry experience in textile design. Candidates will also need to demonstrate the ability to work well as part of a team, have flexibility with their work approach and demonstrate strong organisational and communication skills.

Key responsibilities are:

  • general administrative support for the design studio and team helping to prepare for meetings, photoshoots, exhibitions and events
  • assisting the design team in ensuring the efficient operation of the studio
  • working in collaboration with the design team to assist in creative processes where possible including design work
  • assisting with photo shoots and event/exhibition planning
  • assisting with creative input/design work where possible
  • supporting the design team with trend and colour research
  • provide general support to the studio as and when required
  • helping create mood boards and colour palettes
  • shadowing in mill sampling meetings for fabrics and wallcoverings
  • supporting the day to day running of the design studio ensuring it is organised and tidy at all times
  • maintaining existing databases, folders and filing
  • supporting telephone and email enquiries for the design studio
  • needs to be able to draw and use Photoshop and Illustrator
