Senior architect – technical focus
at Snøhetta
Snøhetta is seeking a senior architect with a technical focus to join its team in Hong Kong.
For more than 30 years, Snøhetta has designed some of the world’s most notable public and cultural projects. Since its inception, the practice has maintained its original transdisciplinary approach, and integrates architecture, landscape, interior, product and graphic design across its projects. We represent a multitude of different cultural and national origins, with currently around 250 employees spread over offices in Oslo, New York, Innsbruck, Paris, Adelaide, Hong Kong, Shenzhen and San Francisco.
We are now looking for a full-time senior architect (technical focus) to join studio Hong Kong. The position will be based in Hong Kong.
As an architect in Snøhetta, you will be welcomed into an open, flat-structured, and transdisciplinary team. Formal requirements and competence:
- master’s degree in architecture
- around nine to ten years of professional, post-grad architecture experience
- strong design sensibility, talent and rigour
- efficient and productive
- experience working in a team environment
- proficiency in English is required, and Chinese is preferred
Required technical competence:
- is a key project team member within the office focussing on detailed technical resolution of the design projects
- strong understanding of later stage design process, detail design package production, detailing and specification
- maintaining a detailed knowledge of up-to-date regulations and legislation applicable to architectural design and the practice’s professional output
- maintaining a detailed knowledge of best practice in construction and selection of materials as they relate to architectural design
- maintaining a detailed knowledge of CAD processes and software as they relate to technical design (such as clash detection, etc.) and interoperability across the sector and design teams
- provide support to teams requiring assistance with technical design matters
- maintaining and developing the practice’s process for specification writing
- providing support for design issues related to quality checking
- collaborating on the development and maintenance of a digital library of standard architectural details and designs which can be utilised across the practice to ensure consistency and efficiency
- understanding of sustainable construction processes
- highly skilled Rhino, AutoCAD user, strong BIM and Revit skills required
- proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
- excellent digital presentation skills
- knowledge in environmental design tools such as Grasshopper, One-Click LCA, Ladybug and Honeybee preferable
