Maison Arabella is recruiting a senior technical designer to join its team in London.

Summary

We are a growing interior design and architectural studio that work in high end boutique commercial and residential sectors. We are seeking a senior technical designer/lead to promote and develop technical design excellence across the projects.

This role would suit someone who is ambitious, engaging and technically experienced with a proven track record of delivery and management of residential, commercial/hospitality projects with medium to high end budgets. Effective and clear communication and presentation skills are important to ensure our team and external stakeholders are engaged and all communication is effectively documented and shared.

This position offers a fantastic opportunity for someone with a specialist interest in technical design and delivery to develop and share their skills and knowledge in a progressive and ambitious environment and be the key lead in this area for the studio.

Core responsibilities:

  • act as key support in implementation of projects with involvement in concept, design development, construction administration and coordination phases through to execution/delivery of the project
  • strong ability to produce detailed and accurate drawing packages including plans, sections, elevations and details
  • support design team with external CGI consultants, effectively communicate changes to deliver the best in imagery to sell to client; a photographer’s eye is advantageous
  • ability to produce detailed joinery packages for manufacturers and contractors with awareness of manufacturing costs, appropriate materials, and hardware selections
  • review contractor shop drawings and communicate with manufacturers, external project managers, external consultants effectively and efficiently with understanding of budget constraints or design opportunities
  • communicate and coordinate and effectively with clients and project sub consultants including MEP, lighting consultants, etc. to ensure MA design intent is implemented and be able to collaborate in positive manner to provide sound/creative solutions where issues arise
  • experience in site visits for meetings or construction progress reviews and understanding all the preparation required in the lead up to the meeting
  • take lead on ensuring CAD standards are consistent and high level of accuracy is achieved
  • actively promote technical excellence across the studio and assist with providing training documentation
  • maintain a detailed knowledge of CAD processes and software as they relate to technical design and support the existing standards in place

Skills required:

  • minimum eight years’ experience working in high end residential/commercial/hospitality projects in the UK and abroad
  • professional qualification in interior design, interior architecture or architecture
  • outstanding communication skills, high English proficiency both verbal and written required
  • proficiency and understanding of creative process and construction of interior details including joinery and custom FFE
  • excellent 2D drawing skills (AutoCAD), 3D Skills (SketchUp/hand sketches)
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • knowledge of European supplier market essential
  • UK citizen or appropriate working permit essential
