GIS technician
at Cross Works
Cross Works is seeking a GIS technician to join its team in London.
We are looking to hire a GIS technician to join our established GIS team at Cross Works.
Applicants should expect to provide integral support to our architects and urban designers, providing key analytics to support urban-planning decision making. In addition, applicants are required to have a substantial knowledge of ESRI software – including components such as ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Pro, to work alongside our GIS lead.
For this role, you will need to be an efficient problem solver with great communication skills. You’ll be highly competent with the fundamentals of GIS and be passionate about working on large city-scale projects.
At Cross Works, we endeavour to push the boundaries of possibility with regards to urban planning and cities. An ideal candidate will share this desire and be eager to demonstrate the capabilities of GIS and spatial data.
Essential Skills:
- bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in geography, GIS, computer sciences or other relevant qualifications
- a good knowledge of ArcGIS Pro and Enterprise is a must
- a knowledge of Microsoft Power BI
- fluent use of Microsoft Office applications
- must have a passion for spatial data, and the role it can play in masterplanning and cities
- a willingness to learn new skills and innovate
Desirable skills:
- knowledge of Python, R or other coding languages is desirable
- experience using ArcPy (or other spatial packages) will be valuable
- experience developing applications and dashboards
- knowledge of CAD/BIM and their GIS integration
- knowledge of 3D geometry (and 3D software such as Blender)
- SQL/Oracle skills and understanding
Key responsibilities :
- your main duties will be to support the masterplanning team by providing quality GIS analysis and great looking visuals
- applicants should expect the role to encapsulate a wide range of responsibilities
- play an integral role within our growing GIS team; team work and collaboration is key
- consistently innovate and seek new solutions to automate workflows
- help to deliver professional reports to esteemed clientele
- be organised and manage large files/data efficiently
