Red Engine is seeking a midweight interior designer to join its team in London.

With a total of 13 incredible venues throughout the UK, we have ambitious plans and are never standing still. We now have an exciting opportunity for a midweight interior designer to join our in-house interior team.

The job

Reporting to the head of interior design, working client side in a developing role in a growing team and business, you will assist in developing our new venues in both the UK and overseas and create and develop design packs from joinery to FF&E and venue dressing.

You’ll create and develop programmes and plans needed for each project, managing from concept development to completion, leading design research projects and developing concepts, adhering to budgetary requirements with an individualist on brand style to each project.

You will maintain document control and undertake completion of all documentation associated with construction projects, as well as coordinate with FF&E resources.

Key responsibilities:

  • working with our senior designers to develop and deliver design packs for both UK and overseas venues
  • interpreting the project brief and developing concept stages of a project through to construction
  • experience in presenting your own work and ideas to other members of the internal design team
  • working on full technical drawing packages and associated documents under the guidance of senior designers
  • assisting the senior designers and design managers in reviews and approvals of design drawings and documents for construction and fabrication
  • attending design team meetings and reviews, on and off site as required
  • developing proposals and working with the in-house creative team on the development of signage and dressing for new venues

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • an interior design degree or architectural  qualifications with experience in the hospitality sector
  • strong technical drawing and design skills with knowledge of joinery, furniture and construction detailing are essential
  • the ability to prioritise tasks and deliver in a fast-paced environment across various projects
  • the ability to interpret and implement a creative vision and deliver original design concepts/ideas
  • a solid understanding of UK building regulations. Additional knowledge of European regulations would also be advantageous
  • extensive experience using Vectorworks plus proficiency in other software (CAD, Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign and MS Office). The ability to sketch freehand is an advantage
  • strong 3D SketchUp skills and ability to develop conceptual models of venues to assist key design decisions around layout, bar design, lighting and finishes
