Saunders Architects is hiring an architect/architectural technologist to join its team in Southampton, UK.
We are seeking a talented and motivated full-time architect or architectural technologist to join our small friendly team in Southampton. We work in all sectors and projects are varied and interesting. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced staff to support the design and delivery of a range of projects from inception to completion.
Our offices are based in a listed building in a vibrant area between Southampton city centre and the docks, overlooking a small park.
Our current workload is mainly in higher education and retail/commercial so experience in these sectors would be preferable.
The successful candidate would need to be able to demonstrate:
- RIBA Part 3 fully qualified (ARB registered) or MCIAT
- at least three years’ relevant UK experience preferred
- good design and presentation skills
- proficiency in AutoCAD and preferably Revit and/or SketchUp
- sound technical knowledge and strong detailing skills
- a good understanding of current construction legislation and regulations
- a good team player but with the initiative to be able to work independently
- good communication skills
- ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and manage priorities
Key responsibilities would include:
- preparing design presentations and planning applications
- creating detailed technical drawings for construction
- writing specifications
- undertaking site inspections
- corresponding with, and attending meetings with, other members of the design team, the client and contractor
- undertaking project and office related administrative tasks
There would be the opportunity for hybrid working following an initial settling in period.
A clean driving license and your own car to travel to sites or meetings would be desirable.
Salary would be dependent on experience, skill set and qualifications.
