Matthew Cox is looking for a procurement and sustainability coordinator to join its team in Stamford, UK.
About the role
Matthew Cox is seeking a proactive and organised person to facilitate production/infrastructure purchases and develop relationships with suppliers. You will work alongside the workshop teams to ensure that production is enabled and continuously improved through collective, experimental problem-solving.
You will be involved in the development of the company’s 100-year plan and be a driving force in sourcing /developing sustainable materials as well as identifying potential outsourcing partners. You will also work closely with the production lead to ensure quality levels are met and continuously improved in line with agreed objectives.
You have the ability to find simplicity within complex situations and will play a key role in achieving compliance with B Corp and other industry standards.
The salary will be from £22000-25000 with profit share and benefits. The role is 37.5 hours per week, working from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday.
Key responsibilities:
- support the manufacturing process with the procurement of raw materials
- analyse purchases and implement continuous improvement in quality/optimal order quantities with sustainability in mind
- manage and optimise the stock book
- analyse material margins within the workshop and use data to help shape procurement, infrastructure/storage and pricing
- facilitate consistent quality of products, packaging, care guides and kits with sustainability in mind
- inspire and support a positive team culture
- undertake training and share knowledge about sustainable best practices
- support new product and process development and handle research and development submissions
- innovate around our 100-year plan and work with academic institutions/industry bodies to constantly improve the quality and footprint of our products

Matthew Cox is a company of designers, makers, curators and innovators creating furniture to last over a hundred years. As a third-generation antique dealer, Matthew distils his knowledge into a versatile collection of made-to-measure pieces which complement our ever-changing selection of antiques.
We work in Stamford, Lincolnshire, which is regularly named one of the best places to live in the UK. The studio is located in a 17th-century townhouse and our furniture is made in and around a 1930s Dutch barn with views of Rutland’s fields.
