Real Rooms digital product/AV designer
at Museum of the Home
Museum of the Home is looking for a dynamic, socially engaged creator of digital experiences to produce and deliver the audio-visual elements of its new Real Rooms gallery in London.
About Real Rooms
Real Rooms will see the complete redevelopment of our current Rooms Through Time Gallery housed in our Branson Coates wing. The project will transform this space to include seven brand-new period rooms as well as an interactive introduction space and streetscape.
Digital products
The gallery will incorporate projection, sound, interactives and other playful ways of engaging with our visitors digitally. Examples of the type of product we are looking to create are below:
Streetscape
We want to include projections that create a sense of time and day in this abstract street, audio points that are activated by the visitor to provide additional content in a fun and playful way, and ambient sounds that play out in the street that create an ever-changing soundscape.
Introduction room
We want this space to be an immersive projection space with some degree of interactivity. This space could include:
- 360 Projection space that shows animated/abstracted content across all three screens/surfaces
- Interactive floor projections of animated content that visitors can interact with
Period rooms
Each period room will spill out into the street, providing an interactive space for visitors to get more hands-on with the room and its content. Whilst much of this will be through touch and physical interactives, we would like some digital elements to play a part. Including:
- audio – soundscape of rooms including conversations and ambient noise
- back projections of a window or doorway that show shadows of the inhabitants moving between rooms
- working period TVs and PCs – repurposed TVs and PCs that set the scene and provide some interactivity
- film – integrated into a designed trellis
- vignettes – digital screens or PIR audio
Deliverables:
- design of the Real Rooms AV package
- delivery of content and software
- specification for hardware and installation requirements
