London, UK
Architect – sports space planner
at BDP

BDP is looking for an architect with sports space planning experience to join team in London.

BDP Pattern is the sports and entertainment division of BDP, a global architecture and engineering practice with a network of studios across the UK, EMEA, Asia, North America and Latin America.

Specialising in stadium and arena design, BDP Pattern creates iconic venues for clubs around the world. BDP Pattern is currently delivering Everton Football Club’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock in Liverpool and is looking to grow our team for future projects in this sector.

We are looking for someone that has a passion for space planning to join our team, working on international stadia and arena projects.

Individuals will be interested in how sports and entertainment buildings work and how they are used and operated. The job is detail-orientated, involving creative solutions to address the logistics of different user groups ranging from VVIPs to BOH staff, calculating areas and fixtures based on population numbers and bringing together the various building requirements from the client to the MEP services.

Previous knowledge of sports regulations would be an advantage, however, this will be part of the training. Knowledge of British Standards is a benefit.

Experience:

  • RIBA Part 2 or 3, or equivalent qualification
  • expertise in Revit and Excel is essential
  • willingness to learn and an interest in space planning is essential
  • previous experience in space planning is beneficial
  • previous experience on large-scale complex projects from RIBA stages 0-4 is beneficial
  • portfolio which demonstrates independent thinking, creativity and a broad range of technical skills illustrating the ability to produce and manage complex building arrangements

The candidate will have excellent spoken and written English for client-facing workshops and presentations and be prepared for travel within the UK and internationally.

This is an exciting opportunity to work for a globally respected architecture practice working across high-profile projects globally. There is a lot of room to grow and develop, with support in place to succeed and rise through the practice.

This will be working in a hybrid role with minimum three days in the office and the rest from home.
