Who we are looking for

A full time talented Part 2 architectural assistant, with rounded experience in design and a thirst for experience in construction and administration. We are predominantly keen to speak to candidates with a range of one to five years experience.

What are your responsibilities?

You will be required to carry out all reasonable Part 2 architectural assistant’s duties within the practice. There is space to grow and have a long and fun career with us, accrue benefits and ultimately steer the business.

Initial responsibilities would include :

  • domestic renovation/extension/retrofit projects, either from stage 2 or later assisting a project architect
  • commercial residential extension/development projects, either from stage 2 or later assisting a project architect

Minimum requirements to be demonstrated:

  • ARB/RIBA Part 2 qualified
  • at least in one university degree a good or above grade: eg. distinction, merit, 1st, 2:1; arguments in the absence of hitting this mark will be heard
  • private residential and/or smaller than ten units residential development experience in a variety of stages – some or all of RIBA stages 2 to 5
  • particularly good communication and presentation skills – in such a way that you inspire others
  • be someone proactive, who generates and shares knowledge, not someone reactive who sits waiting expectantly
  • be a good fit with our current teams: polite, passionate, intelligent, proactive
  • be coachable and be a great coach
  • be hardworking, honourable and loyal to your team and company

The preferable situation:

  • experience working with Vectorworks or a willingness to train with our resources in your own time
  • sustainable practice or study experience, eg. Retrofit
  • MacOS fluent
  • Google Drive fluent, especially Google Sheets or Excel
  • have references that will discuss with us their experience of you working with them
  • have a love of maths and spreadsheets, or a willingness to learn
  • have no more than one month notice period with any current employer or obligation
  • able to work from our current studio, 6 Links Yard, London, E1 5LX, 9 am to 6 pm, five days a week, although we have a flexible working policy and a whole studio WFH policy currently working from home on Fridays
  • preferable if you have less than 45 minutes commute by your preferred means
  • mature beyond your years and you excel in knowing yourself, you have a command over your unwanted habits and automatic behaviours

Pay offer range

Using the most recent RIBA Business Benchmarking Report, we offer salaries above the average for our practice size bracket (3<5 and 5<10), in our practice location bracket (London). Baseline salary for these brackets for a Part 2 architectural assistant between one years and five years experience after uni is currently £28k up to £33k on becoming a registered architect depending on your relevant experience, your training and support needs. More relevant experience will be valued higher and vice-versa.
