Interior design assistant

Westbourne Homes is looking for a creative and highly organised interior design assistant to be part of its team in Berkshire, UK.

The ideal candidate would have one to two years’ experience within a professional setting (ideally high end). Day-to-day reporting will be to the head of design but duties will also extend to general studio.

In this position, you’ll play a crucial role in achieving exceptional results for our clients.

Required skills and experience:

  • experience with working on both interior architectural and FF&E projects to help across both spec teams
  • proficient in AutoCAD, EstiPC and Microsoft Office
  • knowledge of FF&E, fabrics, materials and suppliers
  • ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • support the whole team with a positive attitude and approach their work with care and attention
  • strong organisational and time keeping skills
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • full UK driving licence

Desirable skills:

  • 3D skills in SketchUp/free hand sketching
  • Photoshop

The candidate will be responsible for general design duties, including but not limited to:

  • producing and maintaining technical documentation that clearly communicates our design to both our clients and our construction teams, including specification documents and detailed drawings
  • procurement including pricing, estimating, ordering, establishing lead times and chasing deliveries
  • attending site visits and client meetings and producing accurate and detailed meeting minutes
  • preparing documents and ordering materials for meetings
  • assisting on installations as required
  • maintaining the tidy appearance of client meeting areas and fabric library
  • day to day tasks such as answering calls in a polite and professional manner and welcoming clients by providing refreshments

This is a full-time permanent position, based at our office in Wokingham, Berkshire.
