Role
The designer would need to form a part of an integral team that work closely with each other in a collaborative way. Projects range from small residential to large developments and hospitality projects. The designer performs complex interior design assignments and assists in the preparation of drawings, client presentations, CAD design, graphics and sketching, and general administrative tasks for the studio.
Responsibilities:
- develops innovative design concepts that are practical, aesthetic, safe and reflective of the intended purpose and function and client goals
- keeps the project or a phase of a project on schedule and within budget
- responsible for the selection and specification of interior architectural materials and finishes, furniture, lighting and artwork
- able to independently deliver design concepts and conduct programming efforts, such as space planning, layout and utilisation of furnishings and equipment, lighting and colour coordination, and product research
- renders conceptual design ideas and prepares 2D and 3D presentation and design drawings
- prepares and supports client presentations
- prepares and updates documents during schematic design and the design development phases
- solicits bids and assists in subcontracting fabrication, installation and arrangement of the materials, finishes and furnishings required
- assembles furniture, fixture and equipment (FF&E) and architectural and interior finishes and boards, lighting, art signage, colour and materials to carry out design intent
- communicates with other disciplines, vendors and contractors to incorporate all required information into the project
- implements and follows Littlemore standards for all projects and processes
- understands technical regulations and code compliance
- may complete technical research and prepare specification manuals for interior finishes, furnishings and equipment
- incorporates integrated sustainable design solutions into projects
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design or related field
- proficient technical expertise in MS Office, Adobe Suite, AutoCAD, SketchUp and other design tools; some Revit experience preferred
- moderate level of experience in graphic design concepts, hand-sketching, vignette scenes, hand colouring, renderings and shop drawings
- exposure to translating design concepts into building assemblies
- ability to meet deadlines consistently and effectively, working effectively in a team environment
- effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- effectively coordinate technical designs and issues with various consultants such as architects, landscape architects, MEP and structural engineers
- enthusiastic and curious about new products and technologies
