Part 2/3 architectural assistant

Michaelis Boyd is currently seeking a Part 2/3 architectural assistant to join its London office.

We are a highly regarded architectural and interior design practice involved in a diverse range of residential and commercial projects across the globe. Our projects span from unique architectural schemes and inspiring interiors to custom furniture and lighting.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong design portfolio, solid construction knowledge and a proven track record of completing complex architectural projects. We are looking for someone with an independent and progressive mindset who can work well as part of a team or with a project lead.

Responsibilities:

  • create innovative conceptual design drawings, including 3D, 2D and hand-drawn visuals, for both pitch documents and live projects; this includes high-end residential projects, mixed-use commercial ventures and refurbishment/fit-out/new build schemes
  • develop drawings for planning applications and produce detailed tender packages for various projects, sometimes of a complex nature
  • collaborate with external consultants, such as structural and mechanical engineers, to incorporate specific technical details within the drawings
  • present work to founders and partners, and attend on-site meetings to address queries and provide project management support
  • work closely with a director while maintaining a proactive and communicative approach, ensuring updates, issues, and resolutions are effectively conveyed to relevant stakeholders
  • demonstrate creativity through the use of 3D modelling, hand-drawing, and 2D design, particularly in high-end hospitality and residential projects
  • possess a solid understanding of UK building regulations, contract administration, and have experience in producing technical drawings at both building scale and detail
  • manage multiple projects simultaneously, delivering thorough and accurate drawings within tight deadlines
  • exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • be self-motivated and eager to learn and develop professionally.

Requirements:

  • essential: Part 2 or Part 3 architectural degree or equivalent qualification
  • ability to produce architectural tender packages and interest in interior architecture and joinery detailing is required
  • previous work experience in architectural practices is necessary
  • prior experience in both luxury hospitality the private residential sector
  • good understanding of RIBA work stages and construction procurement methods
  • knowledge of UK building regulations and planning procedures
  • impressive portfolio showcasing high-quality design work, including hand-drawings and CAD technical detailing
  • fluent in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign)
  • proficient in Vectorworks 2D
  • proficiency  in 3D visualization tools such as Enscape and Lumion is advantageous
