Part 2 architectural assistant
at Woldon Architects

Woldon Architects is hiring a Part 2 architectural assistant to join its team in London.

Woldon Architects

Woldon Architects is looking for an imaginative and capable Part 2 architectural assistant to join our London studio.

We work on workplace, mixed-use and bespoke residential projects, including both new-build and refurbishment schemes. Our work ranges in scale and character but is united by a belief that good architecture comes from curiosity, careful thinking and a genuine enjoyment of the process.

This is an opportunity for a talented designer to become part of a close-knit practice, contribute ideas from the outset, and gain experience across all RIBA stages. You will work alongside our Senior Architects and Partners on live projects, developing your design, technical and communication skills in a supportive, ambitious environment.

We are a friendly and social studio with a positive, hands-on approach to our work. We care about the quality of what we produce, but we also want the studio to be an enjoyable place to spend time. We are looking for someone who brings energy, perspective and enthusiasm.

The role

You will contribute to projects from early design and planning through to detailed design, technical delivery and completion. Day to day, this may include developing design ideas and presentations, producing drawings and visualisations, researching materials and precedents, coordinating with consultants, and assisting with technical information and project administration.

You should be comfortable taking initiative, asking thoughtful questions and working independently when needed, while also being a generous and reliable member of a team.

What we’re looking for:

  • a completed RIBA Part 2 qualification and experience in a UK architectural practice
  • a strong and considered design portfolio, showing both creativity and care in the way ideas are developed
  • interest in making buildings that are practical, well-resolved and enjoyable to use
  • confidence in CAD drawing and 3D visualisation; MicroStation experience is useful, but not essential
  • an understanding of UK planning, Building Regulations, construction and detailing, appropriate to your level of experience
  • clear communication skills and the confidence to engage with colleagues, consultants and clients
  • a curious, proactive approach and willingness to contribute ideas
  • good judgement, organisation and the ability to manage deadlines
  • an interest in the wider culture of architecture, design, materials and the built environment

A short introduction from you

We are interested in the person behind the portfolio. As part of your application, we would love to hear from you in a short video or audio recording, no longer than 30 seconds. Tell us a little about yourself, what interests you about architecture, why this role appeals to you, and what you would bring to the studio. A simple phone recording is absolutely fine; we are looking for personality, curiosity and perspective.
