In our design studio, we pride ourselves in working autonomously, fully owning our projects start to finish – with a creative steer across 30 sites! Our designers are giving each of our stores a unique and original look, which means you get to bring in your own ideas and visions delivering outstanding interiors whilst taking into account technical and commercial requirements.

A day in the life of a senior concept designer

As a senior concept designer, you will be creating new unique store concepts as well as enhancements to our existing portfolio by formulating design objectives and coordinating the delivery of design solutions. As a leader and visionary, you are bringing in your own ideas and vision for our communities, whilst developing and implementing a broader vision for the Starbucks brand, creative objectives, and our unique design processes.

The role:

  • leadership – setting goals for the work group, developing organisational capability, and modelling how we work together
  • planning and execution – developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results whilst evolving our overall visual strategy
  • expertise – championing the use of best practices, accuracy of construction documents, as well as coordinating architectural activities and technical discipline
  • strategy – formulating and implementing creative and design objectives and providing creative direction and leadership for all design projects
  • partner development and team building – providing partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams

Requirements

This is you:

  • you elevate and share knowledge of industry trends in retail, hospitality, store and brand design, and have experience in managing a design group in a graphic design environment
  • you have experience in project management, leading large-scale design projects and cross-functional activities in a multi-unit environment
  • you are a true people person, fostering teamwork among diverse groups and disciplines comes natural to you
  • you are comfortable working under tight deadlines and executing multiple tasks at once
  • you have a strong knowledge in both articulating creative development processes and the A/E design process and portfolio review
  • you know how to use the current version of AutoCAD or Microstation
