Waugh Thistleton Architects is a research centered practice that puts high-quality architecture and environmental responsibility at the core of our work. We are seeking a talented designer to join our studio in London.
Who?
A self-starter who is passionate about architecture has a keen team spirit and shares the studio’s high creative ambitions. Able to confidently communicate a clear design narrative through beautiful drawings.
What?
To be involved at all stages of the design and construction process. Working from competition stage with early concepts thorough to detailing projects for construction.
You will be responsible for:
- collaborating with colleagues to develop the creative narrative for individual projects and the studio’s work
- working in cooperation with the project director, client and design team to realise the project vision
- consistently creating high quality, photorealistic computer-generated visualisations and 3D imagery for use in client presentations and competitions
- creating sketch designs and translating these into three-dimensional CAD drawings and ultimately production information
- producing work to the client brief on time and on budget
- taking responsibility and ownership of multiple projects at any one time, leading teams and communicating with management regarding status and schedule
- keeping abreast of advances in architectural visualisation and parametric design to ensure the studio continually produces evocative and thought provoking visual interpretations of our work
Skills and experience:
- five years’ proven experience in developing a similar role within an architectural practice
- experience of running large scale commercial and residential projects
- highly creative and thoughtful with a superb eye for composition, light and materials, with a technical understanding and passion for bringing ideas to life
- understanding of architectural project design approach and workflows
- well organised and adaptable, with the ability to multitask and prioritise
- good communications skills, including fluency in spoken English
- approachable and professional manner with the confidence to deal with people at all levels
- remain calm and deliberate under pressure
- strong team player, with a collaborative working style
- advanced 3D modelling in CAD, preferably ArchiCAD and Rhino
- advanced rendering skills, preferably using Podium, Photoshop and ArchiCAD
Location: Shoreditch, London
Salary: dependent on experience
Start date: ASAP
